Best Umbrella Strollers for Toddlers

Umbrella strollers were the most popular choice of travel stroller due to their low price, small size, and lightweight frame. These days, however, more parents choose modern travel strollers over umbrella ones as they fold smaller and offer more features.

Would I recommend an umbrella stroller? I think it depends. If you aren’t traveling too often you might not want to spend a ton of money for a luxury travel stroller, so an umbrella stroller can come in handy. While they cannot fit in the overhead bin of the airline and have to be gate-checked, if you fly once a year or head to Disney it might not matter to you anyway.

I’ll be real. Between popular strollers like GB Pockit stroller or Dream on Me for older kids, I’ll always go with the umbrella, because they are easier to maneuver and you won’t pinch your fingers when folding them.

Make sure that you pick a stroller that suits YOU, not buy it because it’s popular among other moms or the easiest to buy. Everyone has different needs – for example, your child might need a recline while others won’t.

Chicco Liteway Stroller – Best Umbrella Stroller

Priced under $100, it holds up to 40 lbs and weighs next to nothing, which makes it the best option even for an older child.

Chicco Liteway stroller pushes best of all umbrella strollers I tested. It is long when folded (46″) so that’s something to keep in mind.

The canopy is perfectly functional and it folds easily. I was stunned by how well the Chicco Liteway stroller works when compared to other umbrella strollers, and even some other small travel strollers.

Uppababy G-Luxe – Best Budget Stroller for Disney

While Uppababy G-Luxe isn’t my favorite umbrella stroller, the carry-strap on Uppababy umbrella stroller can make your life easier when your child isn’t riding in it at the moment.

The stroller reclines slightly, the seat is greatly padded, and has a capacity of 55 lbs making it good for older kids.

It has suspension with shock absorption on all four wheels and folds easily, including the canopy. It doesn’t fold as easily as regular travel strollers and you need to time things right to make it all click, but the lower price makes the stroller attractive for people who don’t travel much by plane.

Summer Infant 3Dlite Tandem – Best double umbrella stroller

Umbrella strollers are usually single but then started popping up as a double side-by-side stroller as well. Side-by-side strollers are easier to push, but in tight spots are harder to fit through doorways or sidewalks. Why Summer Infant 3Dlite Tandem is a unique double umbrella strollers because it hides the second seat behind the main one.

It folds and unfolds easily and the storage underneath is spacious, so it can even fit a diaper bag. While the second child will have to face you it might not be for everyone with a kicking kid, but if you have a baby on the back it might just be perfect.

babyGap Classic – Most stylish umbrella stroller

Gap teamed up with Delta Children to create its babyGap Classic Stroller in stylish designs. The stroller organizer bag is a plus since umbrella strollers almost never come with it.

I personally wish there was some sort of footrest, because the kids feet seem to be sliding off the little sort of footrest.

This umbrella stroller has a small carry strap on the side as well, which can help you pick the stroller up, but not throw it on your shoulder.
