If I had known what I know now, after testing over a hundred strollers on two kids and friends’ kids as well, I would have made different choices when picking my first and only, at the time, stroller for my first baby. I mentioned before that I ended up switching my original choice of single-to-double stroller and buying Cybex Gazelle S stroller when my second baby came along. While I liked it, it was undeniably hard to push, when you consider that two heavy kids are sitting on it…
This is why I was very excited when I got my hands on Cybex e-Gazelle S stroller, which is a slightly improved version of the original model with an electric battery. And… while it’s honestly life-changing, it has some cons everyone needs to consider before buying.

Pros & Cons of Cybex e-Gazelle S Stroller Review
Age Range – 6 months to 50 pounds (22kg)
Stroller Weight – 32 pounds (14.7kg)
Folded Size – 37 x 22 x 13 inches
Cybex e-Gazelle works the same exact way as the regular stroller, but it’s significantly more expensive. It comes with the same accessories, which is a rain cover, cupholder, and shopping basket. -> See my review of the traditional Gazelle S stroller here.
Gazelle comes as a single stroller with a shopping basket, but it can be extended to a tandem model by buying a second seat or doing what we did and simply using a car seat adapter to install a car seat for a newborn while the toddler sat on the seat.
I originally picked Gazelle over Uppababy due to the same size and weight capacity, meaning siblings can use the seats interchangeably. Most importantly, Gazelle can be folded with both seats on it instead of separating the stroller into pieces.
E-Function of the Gazelle
With the electric battery on the stroller, the e-model is significantly easier to push, even with two kids and a shopping basket on top. Essentially, it works just like an electric bike.
The battery can be removed to be charged elsewhere, again, just like you would do with a bike. I had zero issues with the durability of the battery, but I assume that over time, the life of the battery might decrease slightly.
The only con of the electric battery I see is that if you run after forgetting to charge it and will suddenly be harder to push as the stroller is slightly heavier than the regular model. Basically, you must remember to charge it daily.
Ironically, the presence of the battery solved a problem of getting the stroller up the curbs. I had this issue with the original Gazelle that it wasn’t easy to lift it when the underneath basket was empty and basically had to get a buggy board bar to support it. Since the battery sits in the middle on the e-model this problem has been resolved.

Child’s Comfort in e-Gazelle Stroller
One of the biggest advantages of Cybex strollers is that they all got upgraded and now every seat can be extremely upright, which matters for a lot of parents, while it seems like it doesn’t matter for most stroller producers as the vast majority of strollers on the market are angled in a slightly reclined position.
As the seat is basically flat, it can work for a newborn without any insert. Another option is placing a Cybex Cloud car seat that reclines as well, and that’s what we did with our second child.
What’s new on the e-Gazelle is a rocking feature. When you press the brake and turn on the rocking model, the stroller will gently rock your baby to sleep. It’s a fantastic feature for those kids who need a little bit more help to fall asleep.

The canopy is big and extendable, providing airflow, and can be raised higher as it’s clippable and not sewn into the seat, so technically, it can last longer. However, just like with the original model, I did feel like the seat could be bigger because I cannot imagine an average 4-year-old fitting comfortably. My kids definitely stopped fitting fine by 3.5 years.
The wheels on the stroller are big and can surely handle gravel, some sandy, and uneven pathways. I heard claims that the suspension on the wheels isn’t great, but I personally disagree – in our case, the stroller was easily able to absorb all the bumps.

Cybex e-Gazelle S Stroller Review: Verdict
Taking the huge price difference into account, a lot of people might be wondering whether e-Gazelle is worth it instead of a regular Gazelle. I think it depends on your lifestyle. If you live in a big city and know that you’d be conquering hills and pushing two kids and lots of shopping, then undeniably, the e-Gazelle will make a huge difference.
However, my biggest concern with the electric version is the same as with the regular version: is Cybex e-Gazelle S stroller worth getting at all. As the seats are on the smaller side, this isn’t a stroller you will be using when an older sibling is older than 3.5 years old due to comfort and you cannot even attach a buggy board to e-Gazelle due to the presence of the battery – while the board is attachable to the regular Gazelle.
I absolutely loved our Gazelle with two under two, but then switched to the side-by-side model that was lighter and easier to maneuver in and out of the car. However, if I lived in NYC or Boston or a European city, I feel like I would have been using it longer.
